WattFigure information

About

WattFigure is a free appliance electricity cost calculator and educational reference for U.S. households. It turns visible inputs—watts, operating time, use days, quantity, duty cycle, and electricity price—into daily, monthly, and annual energy and cost estimates.

What we publish

Our appliance pages explain how to choose realistic inputs. Our guides cover measurement, EnergyGuide labels, electric rates, seasonal patterns, and comparison methods. WattFigure Editorial is the organization-level byline responsible for research, calculations, source selection, revisions, and corrections across the site.

How we prepare and review content

Each article starts with identified public sources, with preference given to U.S. government agencies, ENERGY STAR, product labels, and manufacturer documentation. We separate source facts from WattFigure scenarios, show units and assumptions, and check worked examples against the formula documented on the Methodology page. Sources are linked at the end of each article so readers can inspect the underlying material.

Corrections and editorial independence

Factual corrections are reviewed against the cited source and calculation steps. When a correction changes a result or conclusion, the affected page and its supporting data are updated together. Advertising does not determine calculator outputs, source selection, or editorial conclusions. Questions and correction reports can be sent through the Contact page; include the page, disputed statement, and a reliable source where possible.

What we do not claim

WattFigure is not a utility, engineering firm, equipment inspector, safety authority, or product seller. Results are estimates for general information. They do not diagnose appliances, quote a utility bill, guarantee savings, or replace product manuals and qualified advice.

How the calculator treats your data

The public calculator runs in your browser. Its working appliance list is stored in browser session storage so a refresh does not erase it; closing the browser session clears that list. Calculator entries are not submitted to WattFigure.
